Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah\u2019s lecture to Muslim Americans in Washington:<\/p>\n
There is no contradiction between Islam and devotion to civil society, social culture, and coexistence with others; it is essential to Islam.<\/p>\n
Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah gave a public lecture to Muslims in Washington, arranged by the ADAMS Center, in which he stressed the importance of the \u201cnaturalization of Islam\u201d in America, saying, \u201cThere is no contradiction between Islam and civil society or social culture\u201d; confirming that coexistence with others \u2013 no matter what their religion is \u2013 is fundamental to Islam.<\/p>\n
Professor Bin Bayyah mentioned that the \u201cMadina treaty\u201d developed by the Messenger of Allah was the forerunner to the development of the so-called modern day concept of the state, saying, \u201cThe Madina treaty stipulates that citizens of different religions are one nation.\u201d He added that the treaty should be a model for us today.<\/p>\n
He urged American Muslims to present a positive image of Islam through the practice of the religion \u201cas it is\u201d: a religion of mercy, beauty and tolerance \u2013 not a religion of hate \u2013 citing the words of the Prophet, peace be upon him: \u201cTreat people with good conduct,\u201d highlighting the use of the word \u201cpeople\u201d and not \u201cMuslims\u201d exclusively.<\/p>\n
In this context, Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah encouraged the Muslims to put themselves in everything that would benefit human society and represents the common values ??of the community such as healthcare, the economy and human rights, saying, \u201cParticipate in the joys and challenges of community.\u201d<\/p>\n
He called to rectify the concept of jihad noting that it is not just about fighting, but rather has a meaning of \u201cthe most comprehensive effort\u201d including providing good to all human beings.<\/p>\n
